CAMERAWORK

  • Establishing Shots-The first shot of a new scene,designed to show the audience where the action is taking place.
  • Low Angle Shots-Is a shot positioned from a low angle on the vertical axis.
  • High Angle Shots-Is cinematic technique where the camera looks down on the subject from a high angle.
  • Canted Angle Shot-Is a shot that is deliberately slanted to one side.
  • Aerial Shots-Is a shot taking from an aircraft or other flying object.
  • Tracks Camera Movement-Is a shot where the camera moves alongside the object it is recording.
  • Steadicam-Is brand of camera stabiliser mounts for motion picture cameras.
  • Crane Shots-Is shot taken by a camera on a crane or jib.
  • Hand Held Camera-Is a filmmaking and video technique in which a camera is held in the camera operators hands.
  • Point Of View Shots-Is short film scene that shows what the character is looking at.
  • Shallow Focus-Is a photographic  and cinematographic technique incorporating a small depth of field.
  • Focus Pulls-Is a creative technique in which you change focus during a shot.
EDITING

  • Shot Reverse Shot-Is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off screen),and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character.
  • Juxtaposition-Two things being seen or placed together with contrasting effect.
  • Non Continuity Editing-Is when shots are mismatched to disrupt the impression of time and space.
  • Crosscutting-Is when the camera will cut away from one action to another action.
  • Fast Paced Editing-Is a technique where several consecutive shots last a brief duration.
  • Transitions-Is to connect one shot to another.
  • Dissolve-A gradual image from one image to another.
  • Wipe-Is where the shot replaces another by travelling from one side of the frame to another with a special shape.
  • Fade-Is where the shot is replaced by a black screen.
  • Post Production Effect-Effects added after the scene had been filmed.
SOUNDTRACK
  • Music-Vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form,harmony and expression of emotion.
  • Diegetic Sound-Sound whose source is visible on the screen.
  • Non Diegetic Sound-Sound whose source is not visible on the screen.
  • Sound Effects-A sound other than speech or music made artificially for use in a play,film or other broadcast production.
  • Sound Bridge-Is a type of sound editing that occurs when sound carries over a visual transition in a film.
  • Voiceover-A piece of narration in a film or broadcast,not accompanied by an image of the speaker.
MISE EN SCÈNE
  • Lighting-The arrangement or effects of lights.
  • Location/Set-A particular place or position/where the scene is set.
  • Costume and Make Up-Is the appearance of the character.
  • Props-Is an object used on stage or on screen by actors during a performance or screen production.
  • Casting-Pre production process for selecting a certain type of character.
  • Performance Style-Is how it is performed in the scene.
  • Blocking-The positioning and movement of the characters in the scene.
